vented or ventless fireplace?log size?

i want to stop burnning wood(tired of the mess)and i want to go with natural gas(furnance is behind the fireplace)my fireplace is 34″ back width,35″front width & 22″ depth can anyone tell me what size logs i need and is vented or ventless the better way to go?we do have a 6 week old son
